Ltd. collaborated with Activille Tavernier and Associates to set up a waste water and treatment plant as part of improvements to the Ross University Portsmouth campus’ sewerage system.  On this project, JARS installed four (4) sewage pump stations, interconnecting pipes and force mains, and constructed a treatment plant. The plant incorporated four (4) tanks. The final of which contained a re-circulating pump which sent the effluent to the gravel filter bed. The treated effluent then flows into a soakage pit. Roseau Water and Sewerage Sanitation Project In November 2000, JARS Sales and Services Co. Ltd. worked as a sub-contractor on the upgrading of the water and sewerage system in Roseau, Dominica’s city.  The rehabilitation works involved the repair of the existing clay lines, the laying of new pipes, and the installation of pre-cast manholes. Ltd have performed mechanical and maintenance work on major industrial sites in Dominica, including Dominica Colgate Palmolive and Texaco.  These works involved repairs to pipelines, the installation of dispensing pumps and tanks, and the fitting of special valves.  Assessment of Woodbridge Bay Wharf In April 2006, the Dominica Port Authority assigned JARS Sales and Services Co. Ltd. to assess the condition of steel piles and concrete structures at the Woodbridge Bay Wharf and the Roseau Cruise Ship Wharf.  JARS’ assessment gave direction on the steps to be taken for preserving the safety and longevity of both infrastructures. In November 2006, the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) contracted JARS Sales and Services Co. Ltd. to build the infrastructure for water expansion in the area.  The main component of the project required JARS to construct, in the village of Bataka, a reinforced concrete tank with the capacity to store up to 45,000 gallons of water. JARS also installed 11,000 ft of 4” Ductile Iron pipe to connect the newly erected water storage tank to the water mains in the neighboring village of Gaullette River. As part of the contract, we also set up a series of pressure reducing valves along the water network. This included the lining of an additional 2,000 ft of 6” PVC pipes and 800 ft of PVC mains at Bataka and Salybia respectively. Carib Territory Water Supply Project: Phase 2 The Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) also invited JARS to construct another reinforced concrete water tank and distribution network n the Carib Territory. This tank, erected in the village of Concord, is able to hold up to 15,000 gallons of water. JARS also ran a distribution line of 4” PVC pipes to connect the tank to the existing network and also installed fire hydrants at strategic locations throughout the community. Watten Waven, Copthall and Trafalgar Water Supply Project In February 2005, JARS Sales and Services Co. Ltd. was one of the major contractors on the upgrading of the water system that fed three communities in the south central part of Dominica. Dominica State College Activille Tavernier and Associates constructed Dominica’s first degree granting public institution, the Dominica State College.  The College consists of two wings: one with two floors and the other with three. It is the traditional classroom design with a reinforced concrete structure and roof. Bath Estate Apartment Complex Activille Tavernier and Associates Ltd. constructed one of the blocks of the Bath Estate Apartment Complex. This block, which has three floors of apartments, was made out of reinforced concrete with a timbre framed roof of colour coated corrugated sheeting. The Government of Dominica financed the construction of the complex for sale as private dwelling homes. Wesley High School Activille Tavernier and Associates Ltd. retrofitted one of the island’s oldest secondary schools, the Wesley High School. The retrofit included installation of an internal steel frame with a mezzanine floor. Surveyor: Vincent Robinson Vincent Robinson is an engineering surveying specialist with over thirty-five (35) years experience as a surveyor. He began his career in England with Iffland and Associates, working on coastal erosions. Returning to Dominica, he joined the Land and Survey department of the Ministry of Works and worked for fourteen (14) years as the government’s Principal Land and Engineering Surveyor: a position that made him responsible for the surveying of all the island’s public infrastructure projects.
